RE: The Latest on LeBron
They have to get Boozer or David Lee to agree to a contract today.
Maybe they try to trade Taj Gibson for a shooter? I'd look into it, especially if you sign Boozer or Lee for the next 3-5 years.

Gotta sign Boozer or Lee for PF. And bring in shooters (2 preferably, they have the cash to do it).. JJ Redick, Mike Miller, Kyle Korver

When does the Carmelo 2011 campaign start?

They have no SF either unless Beasley plays that position. Who will be their C? Yeah, good luck to those two but I don't see them winning a championship anytime in the near future.

Having said that, Gar/Pax better wake the F up and get Boozer to commit. He may not lead us to the Finals but he would provide that low post presence the Bulls have been lacking ever since Elton Brands departure. Now we just have to cross our fingers and hope LeBron chooses Chicago tomorrow, but I don't see that happening.

Absolutely no way he chooses Chicago, his decision is already made and its either Cleveland or Miami but it is not Chicago. I really feel like Wade, James, and Bosh were in on this from the start. Bulls really really got played on this one. This type of thing almost makes me want to watch NBA basketball again just to see these three children fail.

If LeBron goes to Miami, his legacy will be he had to team-up with two All-Stars to get a ring, not to mention Wade is the man in Miami and always will be, with or without LeBron. So yes, I still feel there is a small chance he chooses Chicago. I can't imagine him arranging this one-hour "special" on ESPN just to say he's staying in Cleveland.

He would never do a 1 hour special to rub it into Cleveland that he is leaving.

Boozer to Bulls. Not my first choice, I'd rather have Bosh, but Boozer will provide that inside scorer that the Bulls desperately need. I also read that the Bulls will still have enough to offer 1 max contract.

RE: The Latest on LeBron
ofcourse they have enough to offer another max contract. They had enough to offer 2 max contracts to begin with, that was the point of the Hinrich trade.
No other free agent outside of LeBron deserves a max contract.

Quote:But if the trade goes down, the Bulls would possess roughly $30 million to pursue free agents this summer. A maximum free-agent contract starts at roughly $16.5 million. So it's not quite two maximum contracts, but it's close.

If the Bulls gave Boozer a max contract, they wouldn't be able to sign Lebron to a max deal, if he were to choose to sign with the Bulls.

Wolfe23 is correct. They only had cap space for one max contact. Even with the increased salary cap that goes into effect at midnight, they would have been just shy of being able to offer two max contracts. To sign Bosh and Wade to max contracts they would have needed to do a sign and trade for one of them, freeing cap space by trading a player to Tornto or Miami.

RE: The Latest on LeBron
Right when he agreed to signed the media said Boozer's first year contract is only $13million so they can offer a max still. Backloaded contracts, a specialty of Jim Hendry.

My logic was wrong though since i thought they had cap space to offer 16.5 to two w/o messing with the contract.

Im going to make it a point to write down the name of each advertiser througout the one hour show and make it a point to never buy their product the rest of my life.

After the trade with Washington the Bulls had $30 million of cap space. The league increased the cap last night by $2 million. With each max contract paying $16.6 million, the Bulls were short about $1 million from being able to offer two max's.

The Boozer signing was a good one, but the Bulls are going to need to find a solid SG if they are going to be contenders with Orlando, Boston and Miami (if the Heat sign LBJ).

First off, no you won't. Second, as I mentioned earlier, all the revenue is going to the Boys & Girls Club. Third, can you really blame a company for marketing during this event? LeBron is the one who created all this drama so blame him. Watching idly as your competitors capitalize on a huge television audience with the revenue going to a nonprofit cause would be beyond foolish.

One positive thing about the LeBron debacle, it has created storylines, something which I think the NBA desperately needs. I am not an NBA fan, but I do have to say the fact there are true villians now and some thick plots behind some of these games is going to spark my viewership a little bit. Sports flourish with rivalries, and I really feel the NBA has lacked in bad blooded rivalries lately. I think last night is going to change that. Rivalries lead to players putting more importance on winning.

The two most historic rivals just played in the NBA finals. Although there wasn't "bad blood" between them, I feel that the NBA was able to do quite well without your theory.

Wouldn't it be funny if Miami gets ousted from the playoffs by Cleveland next year? 03-cloud9

It would also be funny if the Cubs turn their act around after the All Star break, and go on the win the World Series.

More than funny, that would be a miracle exceeding Biblical proportions. In other words, there is no chance in hell (heaven?) it would happen.
