Dekalb Hotels
Which ones are best? I'd like to be as close to campus as possible. Thanks.

DeKalb Motel of course. Oh wait. You said close and best not far away and run down. Seriously, probably the Best Western or the place next to Fatty's.(Magnuson Inn) if you want close. Note that both back up to the railroad and the Magnuson is right next to the beer garden so lots of noise late into the night(at least in-season).

RE: Dekalb Hotels
I have stayed at, and recommend the Holmes Student Center Hotel. I think it is the best value and you cant get any closer to campus.

I think we paid 60 bucks for one night.

RE: Dekalb Hotels
The best hotels in town are the Holiday Inn Express and the Country Inn and Suites (in Sycamore) but neither are anywhere near campus.

I agree with Robert Best Western is probably first choice close to campus followed by Magnuson (despite changing their name from Baymont only to escape their poor internet ratings and bed bug reviews). I would perhaps add the Student Center hotel to the list. Stay away from Travelodge unless you like dingy rooms with doors that don't lock and dresser drawers that are screwed shut because they contain piles of dated porn mags. It's seriously time for that place to be torn down along with Lincoln tower IMO.

Yeah looking like Best Western at this point. I'll look into the Student Center hotel though. I'm putting together a reunion party of sorts for Homecoming weekend and since all of my friends are out of the area I'll need a hotel. The Magnuson website isn't returning any results for rooms and it looks like I'd have to call the student center to get a rate or something. The Best Western was $111.

I'll let you put up a tent in my yard for less that $111 a night...

I'd take you up on that offer but I don't think that 3-4 people extremely intoxicated people sleeping in a tent together is such a good idea

Definitely true. These are the two best in the area without a doubt. Best western is alright next to campus. I am very leery of anything else near campus though, and I am a towny.

Maybe the super 8 down by I-88 isn't bad. That thing is fairly new, but never heard anything about it (usually a good thing).

Whatever you do don't stay in that place with the empty pool next to huskie stadium. I have confirmed reports of bed bugs there lol. I think its a travel lodge?

IIt also has an infamous room too. Just knowing that room is there is reason enough to tear it down.

Btw Coils, I don't think it was a Hampton(that was over on Peace in Sycamore). I believe it was a Baymont.

I have an apt for rent for a night. No walls, plumbing or electrical, but you would have a roof over your head for the night. :)

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. Nothing wrong with it, although I stayed there in the winter for the indoor pool after a Mike and Joe concert once and it didn't seem to be heated (temp in the 60's)

I also stayed at the Harbor Inn for homecoming a few years back and was told that soap and shampoo "no come with." A week later, it was torn down.

I am not sure the exact room number(though I am sure it can be found) but a certain "person" we hate talking about stayed there for several days before the event that we hate this "person" for occured.
