RE: How many parents will allow their kids to be on their health insurance
He's substitute teaching, while trying to find a job in the middle of a recession, it sounds like he is taking responsibility to me. He looked into health insurance, he's found a part time job to pay the bills until he finds a full time one. I'd suggest it's obvious he's making an effort. Not everyone that is unemployed is lazy.

What kid under those circumstances would have $400/month to spend on health insurance? I can't imagine dropping an extra $400/month when I had just got out of college and hadn't found a job yet. Cancel his cell phone? How would he get a job to support himself? Is he just going to use an imaginary phone to answer for jobs?

Not to mention I'd think adding the segment of people up to 26 would lower the overall health insurance costs for the rest of us, as I'm sure they are the healthiest group among us. Them being healthy should in theory lower the average premiums for the rest of us.
